I was truly angry this morning when I read this news story that a dear friend sent me.

Why? Because, in my opinion, this kind of behaviour is unacceptable and the exact reason why systems end up failing when they do.

I know I don’t know the background behind it but compromising the security and safety in my former workplace where many of my friends still work is truly pathetic by someone who should be setting more of an example.

Why?

Because things like this happen.

“The gunman, Othniel B. Askew, 31, had planned to challenge Mr. Davis in the fall for his seat representing central Brooklyn in the Council. Mr. Askew was apparently able to slip his gun into City Hall by accompanying the councilman, who did not have to pass through metal detectors.

  • You Go Girl, well said Jenelle.

    love mum

  • Wow, I missed hearing about that. The security staff must have been furious too. They have a very difficult job dealing with all the (internal) politics there.

I read both of the articles that you linked to. There was another line in the second article that shocked me – “Mr. Davis, a retired police officer, was carrying a weapon, but it was in its holster”. My jaw dropped upon reading that a councilman was armed during a council meeting. What a crazy, messed up place.

  • *nods*

    It is scary indeed.

And then there was the instance just at the Holocaust Museum recently where in a place that has some of the heaviest security ever – and someone was still able to wreck havoc. :(
