Winter Prep

I will NOT be cold this winter. I look forward to this time too much. A few months ago, the Accuweather long range forecast was for a snowy and brutal winter. Yipppppeeeee!

So while I have spent all day in bed, sniffling and keeping warm from the harsh weather outside (seriously… a month ago I was wearing short sleeves and we had the air con on!) I have also planned accordingly now I know what I need to survive winter up here.

Coat

I had an LL Bean pea coat (or as Bill calls it.. my Republican Cloth Coat as it is VERY Alex P Keaton!) that was great on cold days but on cold cold days the wind cut right through it. So this week I have ordered the coat that should see me through… the LL Bean Ultra Warm Three-Quarter Length!

Gumboots/Wellies/Galoshes

Last year my gumboots were bought for $20 at Century 21 at lunchtime when we got a severe storm warning. They were leaking by the end of winter. So this year, I have invested in the traditional green LL Bean Wellies with their ‘Wellie Warmers’ – gorgeous inserts that keep your boots from rubbing, socks slipping and gives your feet warmth. Yeah!

And the warmers –

Snowboots

I tried to survive without snowboots last year – this resulted in me going for a sixer on uncleared snow – my RM Williams boots from Australia have no grip and either do my Nine West ones. I also needed something to keep my feet warm. Georgina recommended the Ugg (!!!!) Snowpeak boots once before and during summer, I found these for $100… instead of the usual $220!! They are super light and have fantastic grip, are waterproof and are lined with beautiful fluffiness. When I put them on they were PERFECT! So I scored a bargain and boots that should last a while!

So with my gloves and scarf, I think I am set!!
