Yesterday the White House confirmed that President Obama is going to visit Australia at the end of March. That is so very exciting for everyone there and I cannot wait to see the media hoopla about it all and then all the feral comments on news.com.au after each article.
Anyway – as soon as they announced it Premier Brumby said he wanted to invite him to the footy. I hearby support that motion fully! Mr Brumby is a Pies fan so we know that it would have to be a Pies game! Yeahhhh!! His dates haven’t been confirmed but the games he could be going to would be –
Collingwood Vs Bulldogs at the Docklands on March 28
Collingwood Vs Melbourne at the G on April 3
Collingwood Vs St Kilda at the Docklands on April 9
Even though this article says it should be the Bulldogs game, I am going to predict that it will be Vs Melbourne at the G – because we cannot have him slumming it at the Docklands.
Either way, this is to let President Obama know that I am inviting him to SIT IN MY SEAT for ANY OF THOSE GAMES. I have my seat right behind the goals in the Ponsford at the MCG and it is a great location and my seat at the Docklands are even better.
If he needs a place to stay in Melbourne, he can stay in my room at mum and dads and they’ll do their great poached eggs and bacon for him for breakfast. Mum will also send him off to the footy with some Cherry Ripes and a bottle of cordial from the fridge and she will drop him at the station for the train. He can buy the Record when he gets off the train at Jolimont and then get his Pie at half time from the little stand near the social club. Sandra from Parliament will make him feel totally welcome and as she is up with Government security procedures, she will be the perfect person for him to sit next to and she never swears at the umpires.
So Mr Obama – are you game enough to sit amongst a bevy of Collingwood supporters and scream “Go Pies!” at every opportunity? I think you are!!
This is what we’ll see come September in Washington –
