Back in December I was fortunate enough to be part of a small reception that was held at the Australia Consulate in Midtown for Ron Barassi who was doing a tour of the USA.
Ron Barassi is an Australian football legend. You can read more about him here.
He told some great anecdotes (with lots of anti-Collingwood sentiment!) and also spoke about his time trekking the Kokoda trail and also presented the New York Fire Department with a massive fibre painting by a Melbourne artist.
Here he is addressing the audience –
The NY Magpies footy team also presented him with a jumper… the black and white really suited him!
And here is Ron and I. Being a Pies supporter I told him he owed me one!
Ron was diarising his trip for the Herald-Sun and you can read about his night in New York here.
