The decision has been made on where we’ll head for the 4th of July long weekend.. an all American red, white and blue roadtrip to Portland, Maine! (This decision has a lot to do with the snow that is accumulating outside our window. As I described it on my Twitter earlier today – Cotton wool balls are falling out of the sky. Everything is so fluffy when you are inside – outside it is like one huge muddy slurpee. Unfortunately that slurpee has turned into many inches of snow and it is a slippery, dangerous mess out there.)
So, in dreaming of a beachside summer vacay.. all my Yankee Magazine dreams are coming to life!!
On the to-do list will be –
Multiple visits to the LL Bean flagship store in Freeport
Lobster, lobster, lobster
A visit to the Victoria Mansion.
A visit to the Wadsworth-Longfellow House
A little bit of relaxing 😉
Visit some lighthouses.
Stopping in Marshfield, Massachusetts on the way back and get Turkey sandwiches from the Gerard Turkey Farm.
Discover some of the Cape Cod region.
Get as many stamps in my National Parks Passport as possible!
Sadly, we are unable to stay at Martha Stewart’s Maine home Skylands…so here are some photos of the actual home itself and the guesthouse.
You can see why I have wanted to visit Maine for so long! Just pure, unspoiled, gorgeous Americana in all of its glory.
