Last Sunday was the Queen of All Saints Street Fair – on a gorgeous warm Sunday afternoon it was just perfect for strolling through the stalls and a late lunch. In Manhattan street fairs are in full swing during summer and they happen all over the place. Basically they will shut a street down and you can buy lots of fried food, corn cobs and junk in one spot. We even had one out the front of work on Broadway happen on a business day! Queen of All Saints was more like people with their own little stalls selling their own things and people who bought in their home made food to sell.
Isn’t our neighbourhood looking gorgeous at the moment? It is so leafy and green – love it!
Yes – lemonade stands do exist for real –
Street Fair in full swing –
Church neighbour had stoop sale –
Stoops sales are huge here – on each block you can find so many sales on a weekend with people selling their wares from their front steps. (This weekend we actually went and checked one out – the girl was from Australia and she was taking her American man back to Australia to live!)
Our local diner changed hands while we were away – we never got to eat there when it was Mike’s but it is now called Mega Bites. We ate there a couple of weeks ago and Bill loved that with his iced coffee they served sugar syrup. So we decided to try there again as the service was a bit hit and miss the first time. So we popped in there after we wandered through the street fair. The food is still not bad (perfect for Saturday 2pm when you need a quick feed) but the service is absolutely hopeless. I think we’ll give it one more chance.
