Last night I had a memorable commute home.
As usual I was fanning myself on the stinking hot train platform, thinking way too much about dinner and just wanting to get home. The train pulled in (as they do every two minutes!) and I jumped in the carriage and was all “GO TEAM!” because I was going to get a seat. I then looked up gasped. Bill was in the exact same carriage!! It was just this tiny moment that made me realize how small the city can feel sometimes. It is just one of those things that doesn’t happen here – so for him to have made not only the same train, but the same carriage… just awesome! I ran to the next lot of seats quietly proclaiming “BILL! OI!” without seeming like crazed commuter and we both laughed and caught up on our day for the rest of the way home.
I just had to take a picture to capture the moment that New York felt like a small town. Here is Bill all NY cool on the train –
