The next couple of months are going to be a bit frantic… with the wedding, Christmas, travel and also in between, Thanksgiving!
I have grown to LOVE Thanksgiving. It is such a beautiful holiday – just being thankful and spending time with those you love. Bill is very passionate about Thanksgiving and it has definitely made an impression on me. This year, it is also going to be bigger with mum, dad and Matthew here!
Last year was my first Thanksgiving in Albany. It is such a relaxed day… Bill and I started out in the morning with a little morning drive. We landed at the East Greenbush Town Park. In summer, this must be a hub of activity… but on Thanksgiving morning it was beautifully serene.
I took this lovely photo of the small lake there –
A view of the park –
Definitely do not swim in the lake!
Now on to what Thanksgiving is all about… TURKEY!
Bill and I made a homemade cranberry sauce with fresh cranberries… we made so much that we were able to use it right through winter! Here is the sauce… with a stack of mashed potatoes!
Mashed squash (pumpkin) and the lovingly-carved-by-Bill Turkey –
So I think we’ve already created some traditions for ourselves…
– We are always going to make homemade Cranberry sauce. The other stuff is just… blah.
– We are will always have an LL Bean Balsam wreath on our front door after Thanksgiving. We did it last year and it is happening again this year! The smell of the fresh balsam is a gorgeous welcome home!
