We have arrived up in Albany and are all ready to get this wedding thing done!
This week, dad and Matthew have been exclusively savoring every retail opportunity that New York presents them with. They have not stopped shopping one little bit! There have been some funny stories along the way that I can’t wait to share when I have more time. We have had an amazing breakfast at Freemans, a lovely afternoon on the rooftop of the Rockefeller Center admiring the fall foliage that has Central Park that was glittering in a blaze of color. We spent Monday morning with Martha Stewart where we were treated to a Michael Kors fashion show and where we also got an amazing giveaway – a DeLonghi ice cream maker and also an amazing set of spices from Spice Islands. Mum and I have had our eyebrows threaded, our nails done and the boys had a great night at the Ice Hockey at Madison Square Garden where they saw the Boston Bruins beat the New York Rangers. They have been getting around so well on the subway and discovering our Brooklyn neighborhood.
Today we drove up to Albany on historic Route 9 and tonight, Bill’s parents and mum and dad met each other for the first time. We all went to Central Steak here in Albany and it well very well. As an aside, the restaurant is great so if you are up here it is worth checking out. Tomorrow it is picking up the cake, doing some random to-do tasks and then the rehearsal at Holy Spirit and the rehearsal dinner. I am so excited because now that we are finally here the realization that it is finally happening has hit! One challenge has been getting married in a place where I am not entirely familiar. Bill’s family and friends have been awesome in helping make this easier. How blessed am I? Lots! There is no snow forecast, but it is going to be a day of cold winds and some sunshine.
I also wanted to use this blog post to say thank you to EVERYONE for all the cards, gifts, emails, Facebook messages, text messages, blog comments, best wishes through mum and dad and all the love that feels like it is coming from all over the world at the moment. I will to get back to every one of you but it has just been a big crazy at the moment!
We’re going to get married – bring it on!
