Wow. Wow. Wow.
We are now married. I have a husband and I am a wife. It is so strange to say out loud… I am guessing I’ll get used to it soon. I still can’t believe it! If we had a dollar for every time we look at our rings and both say “Wow – we are married!” we would definitely be rich. It is so wonderful to have this time to appreciate everything that has happened over the past couple of days and get used to saying “We are married…”
The wedding was perfect in every way. I can’t wait to share it all with you – from how we planned it, to what we did on the day and how we managed to weave personal elements throughout the ceremony and not get caught up in the whole ‘wedding frenzy’ that seems to happen so often while keeping the focus on the actual sacrament of marriage and what that itself means.
We are currently on our little honeymoon in Lake Placid at the High Peaks Resort. It is beautiful – complete with an Aveda Day Spa that I am going to tomorrow and great hotel dining. The fall theme of the wedding has followed us here with all the rooms encapsulating fall colours. It has been beautiful and chilly today with rain so we headed out for a long walk through the town enjoying the crisp air and now it is even better being back in our room, the heater going with our socks still on, watching the mountains around us disappear in a haze of fog and low cloud cover. The town is just adorable (it feels like a setting for a Nancy Drew book) and this is such a perfect place for time together before heading back to Albany for Thanksgiving and this year, more than ever we have so much to give thanks for! Having our wedding at this time of the year has been the perfect chance to reflect and express gratitude for being blessed with such wonderful family and friends as well as us finding each other. Thanksgiving this year has more meaning than ever.
This is the view of the Mirror Lake from our balcony –
This is how dark it gets at 5pm…
The only photos I have from the actual wedding at the moment are random cell phone photos that were taken. I can’t wait until we get more photos coming through but here are what we have at the moment…
Just before I left for the church –
Rebecca and Emily – gorgeous bridesmaids and now.. nieces!
Mum passing on all my horseshoes from Australia after the ceremony… this is a whole story in itself!
Our first dance… you can see how cozy the Carolina House was. It was a dream place to have our party after the ceremony…
Mr. and Mrs. Blevins… after the reception and back to get changed before the after party!
For the next couple of weeks I am sure this blog is going to be filled with wedding stuff so I apologize in advance if it is going to get boring… but I don’t want to forget a thing and I almost see this as like my journal of everything we planned.
