Note – from the very moment we got engaged we planned on ensuring that we were totally budget conscious when planning the wedding while still having a beautiful, traditional day with family and friends. This meant we did a lot of things ourselves and I shopped around for deals. Obviously, living in New York City where anything ‘wedding’ is even more expensive than anywhere else on the planet, this is a difficult task. I really feel that using the internet for almost everything helped make this possible. In all of the wedding posts, I’ll link to places I got things so I hope it helps other budget conscious brides!
I have always been a fan of classic and very traditional wedding invitations (and wording) so I was very excited when I found a style that was perfect on Exclusively Weddings. Included in the cost were lined envelopes, so I chose a chocolate brown colour that matched our fall theme. I sat here in my pyjamas while I submitted the order – with free shipping and discount codes. ! They emailed high resolution proofs through to me to approve within 24 hours then they arrived within a week and were packed fantastically. I also ordered thank you cards with the invitations so they all matched. As our wedding was small, we felt like we didn’t need to include response cards so that was another added bonus.
Here is how our invitations looked –
In keeping with the budget that I wanted to keep, having invitations like this meant we saved a lot on postage and with them being so light, we were able to splurge and use vintage stamps to reach the 44c total. I used The Paper Nickel for our stamps and they were fantastic! The stamps were pre-sorted into 44c lots in individual cellophane bags. You can read more about vintage stamps here.
Here are some photos of ours –
For some fun we used leftover stamps to reach the 98c total to send invitations to Australia… it was hilarious seeing the final result –
We were both really happy with how the invitations turned out and I was really happy with the vendors used!
