I just realized last night that I forgot to post about my bridal shower… it was a surprise one!
I should say right here, a Bridal Shower here is a HUGE deal – a lot bigger than a kitchen tea as we know them in Australia. Unbeknown to me, Bill’s sister Pauline and everyone else had a surprise party in the works and of course, I had no idea!! We had to be in Albany on this certain weekend as it was Emily’s birthday and also Bill was having his bachelor party at Dan’s place. I envisioned a night of TV in my pyjamas with Bill’s mum while I worked on the wedding favours.
Bill woke me up the morning of and I was quite annoyed that he was forcing me to get up early and go out. I had no idea I just thought it was Bill wanting to go for a drive so I grudgingly got ready and I made sure I did my hair and wore decent clothes as I just assumed we’d be visiting people. LUCKY I DID! After a couple of hours of driving around and ohh-ing and ahh-ing at fall foliage Bill said we would stop for lunch. I wasn’t even hungry but I grumbled ok. He then pulled into The Country Trunk – a gift shop and cafe in East Greenbush and the GIRLIEST place on EARTH. I remember saying “Bill you will be the ONLY guy in here!!”
With that, we walked in and I was greeted with SURPRISE! I don’t even remember Bill leaving but he did!
Here is my reaction… there were tears and LOTS of them!
I could NOT believe it –
Still teary –
Mum got up at 4am in Australia and made a surprise phone call!
I received so many amazing gifts – luckiest girl in the world!
Eileen made sure Bill was looked after with this groovy Star Wars lunch box… and she put in this pair of sunglasses for me.. they even had disco balls on them!
Mum sent a present to Pauline for me to open!
Paula put together my hat of ribbons… using a takeout container as a base!
Pauline did so much work to make the party happen…
Here is Teresa and Paula –
The girls from the city even came all the way to Albany!!! Here I am with Deb, Mavi, Camille and Katie –
With Emily and Rebecca –
One of my favourite photos of Bill and I –
Colette and I –
So many people traveled SO far. Joanne and Amy came from Boston, Mary from near Buffalo, the gals from the City – I couldn’t believe it! How everyone kept it a secret is beyond me… when Bill came back to pick me up I actually sensed his relief… he had been exhausted by keeping the secret and helping to organize it for so long. Now it was all out in the open!! Pauline did an amazing job in making it happen… Eileen baked gorgeous desserts for everyone and Emily and Rebecca were awesome helping with all the gifts. I am surrounded by such wonderful people here – I keep saying “I am so lucky!” Also, Colette took all of these photos – thanks Colette!! 🙂
