As well as all the amazing cards, emails and Facebook messages we ended up having some very very very important blessings comes through for our marriage. You are not going to believeeeee this!
1. Eddie McGuire
I kid you not. Bill arranged this for me as a wedding gift. Back in early September he wrote to Eddie and asked him if he would send us a message for the wedding. Well what do you know? He did! I was floored. Bill got the letter sent to mum and dad, and mum then sent it to Pauline in Albany so it wasn’t here in the apartment. Then, he was going to present it at the wedding reception. What ended up happening is I received it after the bridal shower because Bill knew the letter would turn me into a blubbering mess. The letter is absolutely beautiful and personal and while it was typed, when he has signed it he also made note to write “More Magpies Soon Please!!!” Um… ok Ed…! š
2. Craig Kelly
Yes. Oh. My. Gosh. Oh. Dear. Craig sent a VIDEO MESSAGE to MEEEEEEEEEEE!!! My friend (and former neighbour) Salina organized this as a wedding present. I could have died right there and then when I saw it. So while I would like to say the message was for Bill… it wasn’t. I couldn’t believe it! In fact.. I am still in shock. Ahhhhh!! (For those that don’t know, Craig Kelly was a CHAMPION Collingwood footballer who I have idolized forever… I had a ‘King Kelly’ sign that was huge and went to every football game and he will always be my favourite. He went on to become hugely successful by managing sportspeople in Australia… something that was very new at the time in Australian sports.)

3. The Pope
Ok so maybe I should have put His Holiness before Eddie but this story is just as crazy. We went and visited our Father Joe here in Brooklyn in May to see about organizing a papal blessing as we thought it would be lovely to get framed and have at the ceremony on the altar. We had a meeting, he filled out all the paperwork and that was that. We never heard back and I didn’t want to ask because he is always so busy so we just thought that if it comes through it would come through. We arranged to get it sent to the Rectory here in Brooklyn but we never heard so we just let it be. We got to Holy Spirit the night before the wedding for our rehearsal and Upstate Father Joe was super excited and asked to see us alone before everything got started. He said “You would NEVER guess what arrived here for the Vatican yesterday!!!!” I just started bawling my eyes out there and then. It is the most beautiful thing ever. We couldn’t believe it… it had been sent straight to Holy Spirit and made it in time! It was like everything had fallen into place and I was over the moon. We caught up with Brooklyn Father Joe after Mass when we got back from our honeymoon and he told us that he had ended up getting his friend who was in Rome over summer to submit it direct to the Vatican for us. We still look at it in awe and it is something that is most treasured!
So really… how blessed are we? Very!
