Ahh Monday! After work we ventured way out into the depths of Queens to go and order a new recliner for Bill.
We stood on the A train all the way to the Aquaduct when we realized we went one stop too far… which is a good thing because otherwise we would’ve ended up at JFK Airport!
We then waited for what seemed like an eternity for a connecting bus to throw us into the real suburbs. The recliner was purchased and it will arrive on Saturday. Hooray!
By this time we were starving so we wandered along until we stumbled on a little group of restaurants and decided on Alberto. For a chance night out, it was great! The gnocchi was beautifully fresh – not claggy or ‘old’. The service was amazing and the owners chatted to all of the diners. To top it off… a man playing the best digital piano!
Here I am in their entrance way – it was so cosy!
Also… there was also a Queens Library branch next door. Gnocchi AND books!!
Right out the front was the bus to get home… well one of the buses. It was an hour long trek, including a 10 minute wait in a dark street outside a cemetery! It was lovely to have a change to our usual worknight routine! A last minute night out for a boring purchase ended up being not so boring after all and I loved seeing a new neighbourhood. It also took Bill’s mind off his impending iPad arrival. Of which I get hourly updates of its status in transit.
To think he was Mr Blackberry when I met him!
