We LOVE Restaurant Week – a chance to sample some of NY’s best restaurants with special prix fixe menu prices. What is not to love about that?
This year we experienced two restaurants – Delmonico’s and One if by Land, Two if by Sea.
Both were fantastic nights out!
Delmonico’s was old school New York with splashes of the remnants of all the Gordon Gekko types that have dined and do dine there. One if by Land was all about romance. Roses. Tables for two. Deep red walls. Open fireplaces.
Food wise, I enjoyed both immensely. My chicken dish at Delmonico’s was amazing, the pretzel bread at One if by Land would hands down be one of the best bits of bread I have ever eaten IN. MY. LIFE! Yes, even better than a Bakers Delight Cheese and Bacon Roll. It is THAT good. Colour wise, one of the strangest dishes I have ever eaten was the beet risotto at One if by Land. I loved it! So different and filled with fresh vegetables. It was perfectly cooked and bought back my appreciated of risotto.

Out the front if One if by Land on one of the windiest nights ever. Very low key entrance.
One thing that is very, very, very easy to get used to in America is excellent restaurant service. Both of these restaurants excelled in their service on all counts. Amazing restaurant service is one thing that is very easy to get used to here.
