Remember my rant about the iPad back in the day? I take a lot of it back.
Bill’s iPad 2 arrived on Wednesday.
It is beautiful.
In my opinion, the Kindle or any of the other traditional eBook reader are still superior for eBook consumption… but everything else is beautiful. I don’t see myself getting one anytime soon as I am still a loyal laptop user and I’m not an App girl but… the iPad is very pretty.
Accessories wise we got the leather cover (nice… and it really does clean the screen) and the Incase Neoprene ‘case’. We are just waiting on the dock. As Bill is the king of Apps – we have a great selection. Best download by far is the Time Warner Cable app which is fully functional when we are home. Using this app (which is beautifully designed) we have access to 33 channels. Awesome!
One thing to note – I would be first in line tomorrow if all of my magazines that I currently subscribe to move to iPad format. I have loved reading the sample Martha Stewart Living on it but until I can pay for an iPad only subscription or I can at least get my issues for free in addition to my print subscription, it doesn’t really appeal. The New York Magazine app for subscribers is nice and really how they all should be!
Bill has probably allowed me to muck around on his iPad for a total of 45 minutes… so that is all I can say about it at the moment. I do have my own app folder on it with access to MMM Melbourne, Martha and the Smurfs game among others but for the moment I am very happy with my iPhone and Macbook family.
And yes, the icon spacing still annoys me!
