Tonight, I had my weekly volunteer shift on the desk at the Brooklyn Public Library.
A lady came in at the end of the shift to ask where the photocopiers were. Nothing strange about that but her accent stood out. She was Australian!
It ends up she is a Producer with the ABC who had been in Brooklyn for a month producing a one hour special on the Crown Heights riot and the murder of the Yankel Rosenbaum, the doctoral student from Melbourne.
The special will air on Compass sometime during August to coincide with the 20 year anniversary of his death. It was then that I couldn’t believe it – 20 years has gone way to fast. I remember when the murder happened just like yesterday.
