It was with much excitement that with the onset of spring, the Brooklyn Flea has started again – just around the corner from our place!
The first weekend of April was the first day that it was back in Fort Greene, so we dropped in there as soon as it opened. The minute we walked through the gates we were drawn to a table of.. typewriters.
Five minutes later we were in possession of a 1929 Royal Portable Typerwriter with a kind-of rare wood finish.
Ten minutes later were home after blowing whatever budget we had for the market visit. Oops.
It is gorgeous and it looks right at home in our loungeroom on the desk that we have. Once Lent is over, we look forward to filling the vase with fresh flowers! Excuse the dodgy iPhone photo –
It was so delightful banging away on the keys and then hearing the ‘ding’ when I reached the margin. Typing on a typewriter also feels more productive for some reason. I am not so sure our neighbours thought so.
