On Sunday morning, our Palm Sunday Mass was extremely emotional. We got there early and took our usual seats in our pew up the front and spent the next two hours taking everything in. I can’t describe it well, but Fiona does a stellar job. One thing that was also so beautiful is we have a bell choir in our parish and during the preparation of the gifts they played a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace so delicately – there wasn’t a noise in the church.
The afternoon was very slow and quiet and Bill baked a roast while I did mum and dad’s BAS statement for the lovely Australian Tax Office. On the Hallmark Channel they had a great special – Martha Stewart’s Eggcellent Easter – the arts and crafts were amazing! So after dinner we started another new tradition for us – every Palm Sunday evening we are going to dye eggs.
So I got out the $2 dying kit that I got at Walgreens and we set up the scene.
The dye tablets took a while to dissolve –
We mixed some vinegar in some because the box told us to –
We were right in the thick of it here. I made sure we used disposable gloves and lots of paper towel also helped.
The very colourful aftermath –
Our hippy eggs. They are very much influenced by Woodstock and Haight Ashbury it seems!
Let Holy Week begin!
