It was so great to have the extra day in Albany for Easter Monday… as it was also ANZAC Day in Australia, this meant a broken sleep to follow the Collingwood Vs Essendon game at the G!
While watching it in the darkness of a hotel room at 2.30am I was reminded of where we were last year and I realized I never blogged about it.
We woke up at 4am on ANZAC Day morning and mum, dad, Bill and I all travelled on the RSL bus to the Shrine for the Dawn Service. It was silent, dark and incredibly moving to be there with about 30,000 other people – I am so happy we got the chance to go and Bill was incredibly moved by the whole experience.
Here is a photo around the eternal flame –

We then got the RSL bus all the way home and had time to have a rest before getting ready, going to the train station to go back into town for the big game at the G.
Here we are the train station –

We had tickets to the luncheon at the G which was fantastic! We had a delicious lunch and was a great lead up to the game!

And here was the view from our seats.
ANZAC Day 2011 was very different but being able to remember the awesome day in 2010 made it worth it! I was so happy to share such an important day with Bill and he got to experience one of the most important football games of the season. To make it even better – the Pies still won on both days… yeah! GO THE MIGHTY MAGPIES!
