From the minute Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement I had been so excited for the countdown to the wedding. The whole wedding did not let me down – I thought it was absolutely beautiful and perfect and loved every little bit. It was a different feeling to when Princess Mary got married but I loved every moment.
I held a little viewing party here. The wedding screened live at 6am – way too early. So we recorded it and Katie and Deb came over to watch it after work. I had planned not to peek but I caved in. Mum rang and woke us up at 5.55am as she was so excited watching it at a more sensible hour back in Melbourne so with that we got up and watched about 5 minutes before Bill declared if we didn’t turn it off, we’d never get to work. I saw some photos during the day but tried to hold out. I caved in again when I got home and watched a bit of it. The BBC coverage was just amazing and the quality of the broadcast was beautiful – I never want to delete it off the DVR! Watching it in HD was just like being there. It was perfect!
So we set out to make the little viewing party have a little English feel.
Here is the plate of English Iced Vo-Vo’s and McVitie’s Digestives.. MMMM! Also some Terry’s chocolate orange bars.
I also had English Salt and Vinegar and Roast Chicken chips and had Natural Confectionary Co. snakes and a dash of Australia with my sacred smuggled bottle of Heinz Big Red Tomato Sauce.
Out came my homemade sausage rolls again.
And the Shepherd’s Pie…
And now that Lent is over, it was great having some fresh flowers in the house!
Katie bought some lovely cupcakes and Deb some champagne!
Bill made Pimms for the girls with some cucumber, strawberries, orange and mint and we settled in and ohhhed and ahhhhed through the broadcast, squealing when William was making his eye contact with Kate, reminiscing about Princess Diana and admiring Prince Charles as we all agreed he was looking quite dapper!!!
It was the next best thing to being there! 😉
I cannot stop watching it and reading about it and am counting down until the new issue of Hello! Magazine comes out next week.
