One thing I miss most about Australia is the radio station 3AW. I have listened to Nightline (since the Alex Kenworthy days) and also the Breakfast Show (when it was Lawyers, Guns and Money!) religiously since I was about twelve years old. Keith McGowan and all the nutters that call him got me through many late nights during uni and I love listening to Buy Swap and Sell with Darren James. I even dragged my friend Erin along to a Bruce and Phil book signing when we were about 14 years old (and we got on TV!) and then even better… I won a competition back when I was 16. The win meant that mum, dad, Matthew and I got to go in to the studios to star on Nightline. We got to be part of show for a half an hour to represent the normal Australian family as part of the International Year of the Family. We got to sit around and talk to Bruce and Phil on air about our everyday life… it was so much fun and we got a stack of prizes.
Thankfully, due to the internet I still get my fix of the Rumour File every day. There is a great app called Home Radio that allows me to listen to Australian radio stations (including 3AW) via my iPhone, if I am not able to stream via my computer. Today when I got home I saw mum had updated her Facebook status with what happened to her at Northland the day before. I quickly rang home to wake mum and dad up to let them know what I was going to do… “I’m going to call Ross and John for the Rumour File!!!” So sitting here in my lounge room in Brooklyn, I waited for Ross to signal it was time to call and called 3AW.
So, here I am.. my first ever Rumour File call!
