Ahhh a good concert. Sweaty. Sore feet. Ringing ears. Hoarse voice. I love it all!
In a couple of weeks, I am heading back to the Beacon Theatre to see INXS play. Support band? Berlin. Kind of apt considering a few weeks ago I watched Top Gun for the first time! I have awesome seats and I haven’t seen them play since 2006 so I am chomping at the bit to go. I really enjoy JD as their lead. Yes – he will never be Michael but with him at the helm we can still enjoy INXS live. Bring it on.
Then, at the end of August it is time for the Dave Matthews Band Caravan! They are playing at Governors Island for three days and to make it easier we can get a free ferry straight there from Brooklyn. So Niece Emily is coming down from Albany and we are going every day! There are a mix of bands during the day including OAR (!) and Dave plays a FULL SET every night! I first saw them back in Melbourne at the Palais in a gorgeously small, intimate gig where Salina and I slept out for tickets and got 2nd row… and oh.. we met him afterwards.
In Melbourne gig news, remember this post? Well… it ends up that Diesel is playing on the night of the day we arrive! But a small problem is that if Collingwood are going great in the finals, there is a good chance they would be playing a preliminary final that night. So we have to hold off booking tickets. Bah! So I thought there was no chance of any other gigs when James Reyne just announced a show (with Daryl Braithwaite!) a the Trak. WHOA! BUT – if Collingwood happen to make the Grand Final then getting home at 2am before one of the biggest days EVER is just not feasible. So I have some decisions to make there.
To make things a little sadder though, Lindsey Buckingham is playing a show here while we are there and so are the Foo Fighters – the two shows that I would be buying tickets for without hesitation. I can’t believe they have both fallen in the time we are away. Wahhhh!!
Mark Seymour is the only one that is missing out now… just waiting for a show announcement but I’m not holding my breath. One thing this shows me though is if you put something out there, you do get back!
