EMPLOYED!
A very quick quick update…
I have a job and feel like the luckiest girl in the world at the moment. π
In a very last minute, unexpected turn of events, yesterday I was offered (and accepted!) a position at the American Australian Association as their Technology Associate. Basically the role entails looking after their web and content management system as well as their database setups and IT issues. Yes – all my library/information management skills get thrown in to full practice – without the sight of a reference desk. That aspect will take a little getting used to but I am ready to fully sink my teeth into the other side of the profession.
I started work today and while I am so very tired (remember back to how you felt on the first day of school!) it feels awesome and so far so good. The offices are located down near Wall Street – so my commute takes about 30 minutes of train travel with 5 minutes walking to the station and 5 minutes walking from the station.
This is the view I get when I leave the subway station –
As an added bonus, there is one of the most wonderful Borders stores just past this subway exit which is going to be a danger! π
So, I still have some more blog posts to put up and they’ll all be coming in due course. Another issue at the moment is that with the election around the corner, my news addictions are spiraling out of control again. One of my ‘when I get a job’ promises, was to get a TiVO… so hopefully that will be happening soon too.
And again, a big thank you to everyone again for all your comments, emails and advice a few weeks ago. Muchly, muchly appreciated. π
