Well my first week of working life as a New Yorker went very smoothly!
The train travel has been great. There was one morning of massive delays, signal failures and crowds like I have never seen but.. I only got to work five minutes later and it was all very calm and well organized! To make me feel like a real local, as I walked past my local laundry on Wednesday morning the lady that I have got to know that works there gave me a big wave and a good morning. Great way to start a day.
I have been sleeping so well and managed to take my lunch every day and keep on track in that way. I have been doing some great jobs at work and I really feel like I have lucked out. A note to the Parliament people… a major life changing aspect in this job is not being subjected to the daily horror that is, Lotus Notes. I feel so free! 😉
This has been a massive change in the kind of work I am used to. Saying that, I am enjoying not having the day ruled by reference shifts and also having a day planned, only to have those plans thrown out by a massive reference request. It is strange, but in another way it is really refreshing and I am enjoying working in a very different environment than I have been used to in all my previous roles.
It is fast paced environment, in a lovely office and a great location. I will put together a video or stack of photos of what everything looks like but from the desk in my office, this is the view I get –
Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and congratulations! I have now made the 100% step of moving here… and now I can finally get out and enjoy the city and the country that I have decided to call home. Yay!
