I cannot tell you all how much it is breaking my heart to be missing the Melbourne Sound Relief concert today.
One thing I knew I would miss about Melbourne and I miss like crazy is the live music. Always seeing Mark Seymour and Diesel, paying $20 to get in, sweating it out in a dingy place and being home in 20 minutes.
But the lineup today from 5pm of Hunters and Collectors, Split Enz and then Midnight Oil is just a line up I would DREAM to see.. one of those lineups that thought it would never be possible to experience and I hate to know I am missing it. I have actually dreamt about H&C reforming… seriously. I remember the dream as I had to walk to St Kilda to see them and I got there and no-one else knew and/or cared about them so I was the only one in the audience.
Today though… I would have slept out, been down the front, wearing my runners and going without food for hours to make sure I was front and centre and no-one would get in my way. I would have screamed/cried/lost my voice for three hours. Then I would’ve walked through the gardens, hopped onto the rubbish Connex train at Jolimont and headed home to watch it all again since I had recorded it all on Channel [V].
But I’m not there – so instead, I’m setting my alarm for an ungodly hour to wake up and listen to my dream line up belt out their tunes for three hours.
I’m there in spirit.
