As ANZAC Day draws near… it was time to bake some Anzac Biscuits. Yum!
Of course, it is a bit more difficult as one must source golden syrup and the oats here seem ‘bigger’ but they turned out nice and chewy.. even though they aren’t that flat!
Here they are before baking –
And here they are afterwards –
A batch of these are going to work (Camille is also making a pavlova) and a batch are going to Bill’s work with a sheet explaining the history of them.. and why they can’t be called cookies!
If all goes to plan the weekend will go something like this –
Friday night – seeing Kevin Devine at the Bowery Ballroom with the Book Club Club girls.
11.30pm – Head to The Australian to watch Collingwood Vs Essendon… LIVE! GO PIES! GO PIES!
4.00 am – Game finishes and we sing Good Old Collingwood Forever loudly… well I am hoping to!
6am – Dawn service at Battery Park
Then on Sunday there is a service at the Rockefeller Center’s British Empire Building.
Check out all the other services that are occurring around the United States.
This year it is particularly poignant – I am in the final stages of my genealogy research and am writing the history as basically… a book. I didn’t want a family history of just names, dates of birth and dates of death. I wanted to give each person a story – which is why it is taking quite a long time. But with this I have been trying to find out as much as possible to piece together the time in battle that some of my relatives lived and over time this has now meant I have quite a lot of information that makes up their time away.
I can’t wait to post more about it when it is all finished… but it has been taking up lots of my spare time.
So coming up will be posts on –
Christmas (LOL seriously… it is going to get done!)
Easter
Australia Week
I promise!
