I had mum scanning some old mass booklets from school (yes.. I kept them!) as I am trying to get the words of some of the catchy hymns we’d sing at school masses as I’d like to include one in the wedding.
Anyway – in doing so, she came across this. My time as a Cleo covergirl. In Australia, Cleo and Cosmopolitan were the two most necessary magazine purchases between the ages of 18-23. I landed a cover! Take that Tyra!
How this eventuated was… the Cleo Festival came to Melbourne and was at the Exhibition and Convention Centre. Nadine and I were so excited to go. This was basically a day for makeovers, lots of makeup samples and picking up bits of junk. Perfect!
We got there and it wasn’t bad… but one souvenir we both ended up with was these covershots done at one of the booths. They put on ridiculous L’oreal makeup and made me pose with my hand in a position that makes it looks like the hand of a corpse… but no worries – we made the cover of Cleo! We were MODELS! We promptly returned to our flat and had these displayed proudly for such a long time. Such great memories!
