Advice already coming in…

Posted on October 2, 2008 by Jenelle

Kat has suggested I should at least stay to experience Christmas here. Which has always been a dream. And I have never had the opportunity to taste egg nog either. That also gives me a longer deadline of finding a job… And would also tie in with my original plan of, if Obama wins, going…

The not-so-nice update

Posted on October 2, 2008October 2, 2008 by Jenelle

I normally keep my blog to travel and/or music updates, but I am assuming that many of you would be wondering about what is happening on the job front. Here is an update. So. The situation here is not the best. That is putting it mildly. In typical Jenelle fashion, out of all times to…

A visit to the Pierpont Morgan Library

Posted on September 28, 2008September 28, 2008 by Jenelle

The Pierpoint Morgan Library and I have an illustrious non-history. Every time I have been to New York previously the library has been closed or was being renovated. So it was with great anticipation that I finally had the chance to visit library that had always been highlighted in my Lonely Planet! The renovations are,…

A380 Awe

Posted on September 27, 2008September 27, 2008 by Jenelle

While it would have been great to be at the MCG yesterday watching Collingwood play and win a Grand Final, another reason was the special flyover by the new Qantas A380. Thanks to Flickr, I have been able to see the plane photos with some really good shots taken by Oliver Gigacz of the plane…

A picture says a thousand…

Posted on September 24, 2008 by Jenelle

… Oreos. Seriously, can life get any better when you walk into the supermarket and see this display?

UN General Assembly = Transit Chaos

Posted on September 22, 2008September 22, 2008 by Jenelle

Midtown Manhattan is a mess at the moment due to the security procedures in place for the UN General Assembly. As I walked past the Waldorf, I actually felt like I had snuck in somewhere I really shouldn’t have been – lots of ‘official looking’ people were milling out of the front and black cars…

A little tour of Sunnyside

Posted on September 22, 2008September 22, 2008 by Jenelle

This is walking home from the station to my apartment. In this video I actually realised how much I keep checking the road before I cross. I am so scared I am going to forget and step out in busy traffic!

OK this is just plain weird…

Posted on September 20, 2008September 20, 2008 by Jenelle

My local Rite Aid looks like it is half closed down all the time. I have about 4,000 drugstores in a 5 block radius (well it feels that way) but this morning I just dropped into the Rite Aid for some mints. Imagine my shock when, in the lolly section there is the all-too-familiar paper…

The Vegemite Chronicles

Posted on September 19, 2008September 19, 2008 by Jenelle

I’ve just about given up trying to find bread that tastes decent with Vegemite on toast. So this morning as I was eating it out of the jar (as I am sick of eating it on crackers) I remembered this photo. Scary that after 28 or so years… I really haven’t changed.
